The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly gauging interest in their versatile wing player Tyreke Evans as unnamed NBA clubs have said to be asking for the availability of the 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year awardee.

One of the teams allegedly interested in acquiring the 26-year-old guard-forward is the Atlanta Hawks, who are said to be looking to give their current roster a major overhaul before the Feb. 18 NBA trade deadline.

SB Nation indicated that Evans had been attracting the attention of a couple of other teams in the league even though the team is not actively shopping him around as in the case of New Orleans backcourt mate Eric Gordon.

Together with Ryan Anderson, Evans is a current target of several playoff-bound teams that are looking to maximize their talent going into the postseason a couple of months from now.

Meanwhile, Hoops Habit noted that even though the Hawks "have high-caliber players at virtually every position", with Al Horford and Paul Millsap manning the paint and Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver spearheading the backcourt, an "isolation scoring threat" is said to be what is missing in coach Mike Budenholzer's starting unit.

Right now, Atlanta's no. 3 options are Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha, both of which are capable of becoming a starter in any given night, although none of them has Evans' ability to score at will when he wants to.

The report also said that "Evans' ability to create penetration would work excellently within an offense that has an abundance of floor-spacing players" and because each one of the Hawks' starters can shoot from the perimeter, it "creates the potential for drive-and-dish magic".

The only thing questionable in Evans' skill set is his outside shooting, which definitely needs a lot of improvement as he is currently shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and a good 38.8 percent shooting from three-point range.

His career shooting stats are 44.7 field goal percentage and 27.8 three-point field goal percentage.

But if there is anyone who could improve Evans' outside shooting, it should be Gregg Popovich-derivative coach Budenholzer.
