Alex Teixeira is rumored to be passing up the chance to play in the English Premier League with Liverpool FC as Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning FC has reportedly beaten the Reds with a £35 million bid for the Brazilian midfielder.

Daily Mail Online reported that the Liverpool target could "become the latest player to move to the mega-rich Chinese Super League in the next 24 hours in the biggest transfer deal of the year so far worth around £35 million".

Another CSL squad, Guangzhou Evergrande, had just recently broken Jiangsu's £25 million Chinese record transfer of Chelsea midfielder Ramires last Jan. 27 after the five-time China top flight champions successfully bid £32 million for Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez on Wednesday.

If the deal with Teixeira will push through, it will again set a new record for the richest transfer in the history of China football.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who is currently playing for Ukrainian Premier League side FC Shakhtar Donetsk, has been eyed by Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp this winter transfer window, but the club is reportedly not willing to shell out more than £30 million for Teixeira that led to the deal falling through, as per Daily Star.

The Reds are said to be planning to make a higher bid this summer, but the Chinese club had beaten them to it as China's winter window will not close until Feb. 26.

Klopp reportedly went public to comment on the team's pursuit of the Brazilian on deadline day, saying that the club's decision not to give in to the huge transfer fee demand "was the right one". He also implored Liverpool fans to support the team's verdict even though they were not able to snag any big-name football stars during the recently closed European window.

Teixeira started his senior career in 2008 with Brazilian Serie B squad CR Vasco da Gama and stayed there for two seasons. He was then signed by Shakhtar in March 2010, where he had been playing for the last seven seasons.

The Duque de Caxias, Brazil native had appeared in a total of 222 games in all competitions for the Moles and have scored 89 times.
