Zopo to Launch Speed 8 Smartphone on February 24 at MWC 2016

Zopo Speed 8 Will Be the First Smartphone in the World to Feature Mediatek’s Deca-Core Processor

Chinese smartphone maker Zopo Mobile is gearing to launch its Speed 8 smartphone on Feb. 24 during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

The Zopo Speed 8 is the successor to the Speed 7 handset that was launched in 2015. A few days ago, the Chinese company sent out invites for the unveiling of the device at the said event.

The Zopo Speed 8 is expected to be introduced by professional Spanish motorcycle racer and three-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo.

Specs-wise, the Zopo Speed 8 will feature MediaTek's latest and most powerful Helio X20 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and a large 3,600 mAh battery. The phone will sport a 5.5-inch display screen with a 2K resolution and will come with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system pre-installed, according to rumors.

The Speed 8 will sport a metal body and will come with a fingerprint sensor on the back, placed beneath a 21 megapixel primary camera and dual-LED flash. On the front, the device is rumored to have an 8 megapixel unit. Other specs include support for USB Type-C port connector and NFC connectivity.

Many other Chinese tech companies, such as Huawei, Lenovo, Gionee, OPPO, and Xiaomi will be present at the MWC 2016 event. During the event, Xiaomi is expected to unveil its latest flagship model - Xiaomi Mi 5 - on Feb. 24 as well, while Lenovo is planning to unveil its Lemon 3 Android mid-range smartphone for the global market. Gionee is also planning to debut the Elife S8, which is the successor to last year's Elife S7 model.
