First season Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is reportedly set to maximize the £100 million budget the Merseyside club will provide for him in the summer as he hopes to improve the Reds in both the offensive and defensive ends.

Caught Offside reported that the 48-year-old German bench tactician will be "handed a £100m warchest in the summer transfer window to turn Liverpool into Premier League title contenders", and that a goalkeeper and a "marquee attacker" were the priorities of the former Borussia Dortmund two-time Bundesliga champion head coach.

Klopp is said to be eyeing the goalkeepers of two English Premier League squads, Stoke City's Jack Butland and Southampton's Fraser Forster, both of whom he was having a keen eye this season.

Stoke City is on a rise right now, stringing four straight undefeated games, to snap in the heels of Liverpool at eighth place in the overall standings. Arguably, most of their wins could be attributed to the plays of Butland, who have only allowed three goals during the said unbeaten streak.

Meanwhile, Southampton is also experiencing somewhat impressive performances from Forster as primary goal stopper. The team had been mercurial, though, and so they trail Stoke City by two points in the league table to settle for the ninth spot.

Meanwhile, The Sun indicated that Klopp wants either former Dortmund player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Bayern Munich winger Mario Götze as his main striker signing in the summer.

Aubameyang is the second highest scorer in the current Bundesliga season so far with 22 goals, only a goal behind top scorer Robert Lewandowski of the Bavarians.

Klopp had always felt the 26-year-old Gabon international could be effective within his system in the English top flight and so rumors are out that he should be the top target of the former BVB boss at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old World Cup-winning midfielder Götze remains as "an ambitious target" for Klopp, the report says, as Bayern is not keen on selling the former Dortmund player anytime in the near future.

Götze is allegedly struggling under Pep Guardiola's watch as he is only having limited appearance with the first team squad of the Bundesliga champions. He has only played seven times, scoring once, in the German domestic league so far this season.
