"It feels like someone came in and confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back to just watch and see life go by without me participating in it," she wrote.

Hadid was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012. In the same year, she had a port implanted inside her arm to treat the disease, which had become chronic. The port was removed in 2013.

During an interview with People in 2015, Hadid said that the aftermath of the illness made her lose her ability to do simple things such as watching television, reading and writing.

The sad declaration came only a few months before then-husband David Foster announced his divorce from the actress-model. She then switched back to using Hadid as her surname to match the one being used by her children.

Hadid has revealed that her children Gigi, Bella, and Anwar (ages 20, 19, and 16) and how they have become her source of inspiration and strength over the years, most especially throughout her battle with Lyme disease.

"There were many days where I didn't really wanna live anymore, but when you look at your children, it's not a choice anymore, right? It's you have to," says Hadid to Dr. Oz during an interview for 'The Dr. Oz Show.'

Hadid said that her children seem to have all grown up suddenly because of what they have had to go through with their mother.

Lyme is an infectious disease caused by the tick bites. Symptoms of the disease includes severe headache, neck pain and stiffness, palpitations, face movement loss, memory problems, and joint cramps. It is mainly characterized by a gradual expansion of redness over the bitten area that is neither itchy nor painful.
