Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. has said that there will probably be no Iron Man 4. He made this revelation to USA Today during an interview with the  on the set of his upcoming film Captain America: Civil War. Although Marvel apparently sees Downey Jr. as a perfect fit for its hero behind the red and gold iron mask, the actor seems certain that a fourth flick may not materialize. He said that similar to Captain America, a third installment may be the last for playboy philanthropist and billionaire Tony Stark.

The first Iron Man chapter was released in 2008 and grossed a total of $585.1 million globally. Iron Man 2 followed in 2010 and further surpassed its prequel with a box office return of $623.9 million. Iron Man 3 hit the theaters in 2013 and as expected, outperformed the records of the two first films, raking in more than $1 billion in global box office. Combining all three movies, Tony Stark has already made more than $2 billion.

Downey Jr.'s character has become one of the most popular Avengers characters and has been an inspiration to many manufacturers of toys, clothes, bags, shoes, and many other paraphernalia worldwide. This means that although an Iron Man 4 may not be released in the near future, the trademark of Tony Stark is scattered extensively across the globe.

Captain America: Civil War is all set to be released in theaters on May 6. Downey Jr. will co-star with Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, and Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, among others.
