NBA Recap: Cleveland Cavaliers Beat Orlando Magic, Spoil Victor Oladipo’s Career-High 45 Points

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Orlando Magic with a 109-103 win at the Amway Center on Friday evening to clinch a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Kyrie Irving poured in a team-high 26 points and LeBron James finished with 18, including a layup and pair of free shots from the foul line down the stretch, to lead the Cavaliers to their 49th victory in 68 games played this season.

"There's nothing much to say," Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue said after the game. "We thought we were going to make the playoffs, so it wasn't really a big deal to clinch," the 2016 NBA All-Star head coach added. "We have bigger things ahead of us. We have a bigger deal in front of us."

Kevin Love and Channing Frye contributed 14 points apiece, while Tristan Thompson had a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds, along with four steals and 2 blocked shots for Cleveland.

The Cavaliers trailed by a basket at the end of the first quarter 29-27. Orlando began the second period with a strong 9-0 charge that gave them an 11-point lead 38-27 in the early minutes of quarter number two, However, the Cavs immediately bounced back and made a 36-16 run to close the first half leading by nine 63-54.

The Magic held the Cavaliers to just 20 points in the third quarter, while they scored 32 points to end the period leading 86-83 entering the final twelve minutes of the game.

Cleveland scored seven quick points in the early minutes of the final period to take back the lead 90-88 before a 17-8 run that extended the margin to an 11-point advantage 107-96 with 2:57 minutes left to play.

The Magic did not gave up easily as they managed to cut the deficit within four after Victor Oladipo made a three-pointer 107-103 with 1:03 minutes to go. James was fouled and converted his free throws to seal the 109-103 victory.

Oladipo scored a career-high 45 points to lead the Magic.
