English Premier League giant Manchester United is reportedly in "secret talks" with Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang regarding a potential transfer this summer despite the insistence of his current club, powerhouse Bundesliga squad Borussia Dortmund, that he is not for sale.

Bleacher Report indicated that the representatives of the 26-year-old Gabon international "have had contact" with the Old Trafford residents with regards to a possible transfer and that the English club is "willing to offer more than £60 million, if that's what it takes to land his (Aubameyang's) services".

The report continued that even if the state of United's managerial situation as of the moment is unstable, as speculations abound that current head coach Louis van Gaal is going to be replaced by former Chelsea champion coach Jose Mourinho at the end of the season, Red Devils officials are still keen on "chasing transfer targets" this summer with or without van Gaal.

Aubameyang is second most prolific scorer in the German domestic top flight this season behind Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, scoring 22 goals in 25 appearances in the current Bundesliga season.

He is shooting a high 58% of his shots on target this season, which makes him one of the most sought-after goal scorers in the world today.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside noted that the £60 million bid for the Laval, France-born Gabonese "would break the Premier League transfer record that the team paid for Angel Di Maria in 2014" as the highest on record.

However, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is reportedly adamant that they will not sell Aubameyang this summer for whatever cost as the club values winning more than money.

"The position is clear. Auba plays for Borussia Dortmund and the next years he will play at Borussia Dortmund. No question. There is no get-out clause. Money is a thing that can solve all other things. But it's not realistic," said Watzke.

"Clubs of the Premier League have a lot of money. But so much as to get Aubameyang? It's a little bit difficult. It's not question of money. We have money. We have no Sheikh. No Roman Abramovich. But we have money. We don't need money. We need success in playing football," he added.
