Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck has revealed how his role in the movie almost did not materialize. During an interview with Conan O'Brien on Thursday at the late night talk show Conan, Affleck recalls how it surprised him to be offered the role of Batman by directotheack Snyder, and how he immediately dismissed the idea.

According to Affleck, he received a phone call from Snyder and before the latter was even able to talk about the role, Affleck claims to have already discounted the opportunity in his mind, telling Snyder that he is "not that Batman."

The director, however, was persistent in describing the character further. Affleck mentioned that Snyder gave him a series of "wait-for-its" as he gradually revealed what kind of Batman Affleck would play - an old and loser Batman who is really miserable and almost on the edge of moral and ethical doom. With those words, Affleck changed his mind and told Snyder, "I'm your man. Say no more."

Affleck revealed how excited he was to have portrayed Frank Miller's version of Batman - dark, rogue, and shady. Miller is famous for his graphic and sometimes gory novels. He has written stories and comic books which have become blockbuster movies such as RoboCop 2 and 3, Sin City, 300, and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

The 43-year old actor further noted that he is thankful to have landed the role opposite Henry Cavill as Superman. He even joked that Cavill, on the other hand, did not readily decline his role as Superman in the film Man of Steel but missed the initial call offer as he was busy playing World of Warcraft.

Batman v Superman opened in theaters on March 25 and ended its first week at the $209 million mark.
