Driver is set to reprise his role as the villainous Kylo Ren in director Rian Johnson's upcoming follow-up to J.J. Abrams' 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' released in December 2015.

The 32-year-old actor expressed his enthusiasm to get back on set to film the latest installment in the main 'Star Wars' saga as well as teased a "great" new script.

In Abrams' film, Kylo Ren was introduced as the son of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Harrison Ford as Han Solo. He was originally named Ben and trained under his uncle Luke Skywalker to become a Jedi knight. However, he turned to the dark side of the force and became an apprentice of Supreme Leader Snoke of the First Order.

Driver hinted that the sequel will continue to tell the story of war during a special screening of his science-fiction drama film 'Midnight Special'. According to the Independent, he also commented on his experience working alongside Abrams as well as Johnson.

"Their temperaments are different. I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one - just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was.... There's a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it's more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it [his own]," he said.

Driver added that he found Johnson "unassuming and intelligent and approachable" and that the filmmaker has come up with a "great" new script. Johnson is best known for his work on several full-feature films including 'The Brothers Bloom' and 'Looper.'

He also directed three episodes of AMC's highly popular television series 'Breaking Bad.'

The actor admitted that although he found international fame as Kylo Ren in the 'Star Wars' series, he did not let it go to his head.

"I didn't turn into a new person... Nothing happened to me. But a lot of people saw [The Force Awakens], and that was good. I guess my Christmas is kind of easier now - the toys and things for family. Kids is a big thing: I feel like before parents kept me away from their kids; now it's like, go get a picture," Driver said, according to Yahoo!

'Star Wars: Episode VIII' is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film intended as the eighth installment in the main 'Star Wars' cinematic saga. It is directed by Rian Johnson and features the return of Adam Driver as the evil Kylo Ren. It is expected to hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
