The recently released HP Spectre has caught the attention of the tech community with its ultra-thin build. The powerful laptop sports a 13.3-inch display and despite its high-end specs, HP was able to cram everything into the device to make it only 10.4 mm thick and weigh only 2.45 pounds.

HP is calling the Spectre the thinnest laptop in the world. Its closest rival, the Apple MacBook, is still a tad thicker at 13.2 mm at its thickest point.

Although having a very thin form factor, the HP Spectre is not a complete pushover in terms of hardware specs. The laptop comes in two variants depending on its processor. Interested buyers can choose from either an Intel Core i5 or Core i7.

While most thin laptops suffer from heat dispersion problems, HP was able to come up with a new hyperbaric cooling system that keeps the Spectre cool even while processing intensive workloads. HP was able to achieve this cooling effect by strategically putting the fans, radiator, vents and cooling pipes in an array that they can work together and create a pressurized space inside the laptop.

HP said that it had to cut some corners with Spectre's battery pack but the company promises that despite this changes, the laptop can last at up to nine hours on a single charge.

The Spectre's 13.3-inch IPS display has a maximum resolution of 1080p. This is just one of the biggest compromise HP has to make in order to make the Spectre as thin as possible. Making up for this limitations, HP equipped the Spectre with a 0.4 mm thick Gorilla Glass protective panel which makes the images look like as if it has a QHD panel.

The Spectre has three USB-C ports, two of which are Thunderbolt ports. The ports can be utilized to charge the laptop and for data transfer as well.

The HP Spectre boasts of 8GB of RAM, 512GB of storage space and has a Bang & Olufsen audio system. It runs on Windows 10.

The HP Spectre goes up for pre-order on April 25 and will have a price tag of $1,170. The laptop will hit Best Buy stores on May 22 and will cost $1,250.
