Dubbed as an "industrial accident," law enforcement officials announced on Thursday that there are no criminal charges to be filed after a 9-year-old girl inadvertently shot and killed her shooting instructor.

According to Mohave county officials, no charges will be filed against the shooting range after a 9-year-old girl unintentionally shot one of their shooting instructors using a powerful automatic firearm at Arizona's Last Stop recreational complex.

The tragic scene was filmed by the child's parents who were standing by watching their daughter being taught by instructor Charles Vacca at Bullets and Burgers at the Last Stop complex in White Hills, Arizona.

Based on the footage, the 39-year-old former soldier was seen teaching the unnamed girl how to shoot an automatic Uzi submachine gun which was initially on single shot mode.

The fatal incident occurred when Vacca switched the mode to fully automatic and ordered the girl to open fire. The weapon overpowered the young girl's arms and wrenched upward hitting the instructor in the head, immediately resulting in his death.

According to Mohave County Sheriff Jim McCabe, the shooting range will not be charged with criminal liabilities since it is fully licensed to operate and has the necessary discretion to allow a child to handle automatic weapons.

Bullets and Burgers shooting range operator Sam Scarmardo explained that it is common for shooting ranges to allow children as young as eight-years-old to handle automatic weapons as long as they have their parents with them.

"Parents (chose) to bring her out there and it was definitely something she really wanted to do," he stated, adding that they are considering raising the minimum age requirement.

However, safety officials from the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health are conducting their own investigation into the incident, though a spokesperson clarified that state law prevents her from revealing the details of their investigation.
