US president Barack Obama is a huge fan of HBO's hit show Game of Thrones. In fact, the POTUS is such a big fan that he has reportedly used his power as leader of the free world to acquire an advanced copy of the forthcoming season six.

According to actor Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth on Game of Thrones, Obama will see the finished episodes before even the actors get to watch them.

"Did you know he gets advanced copies? POTUS. He gets DVD copies before we do. And we're in it," Cunningham said in an interview last month.

Show creators Dan Weiss and David Benioff admitted to sending the DVDs to the White House during an HBO Facebook Live stream event. "I think, for both of us, finding out the president wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an 'ah-ha' moment. That was a very strange moment," said Weiss.

When the interviewer asked if they had acquiesced to Obama's request, Weiss said they had. Benioff inserted, "when the commander-in-chief says, 'I want to see advanced episodes,' what are you gonna do?"

Obama's love for the show is no state secret. Game of Thrones director David Nutter says the president approached him and expressed concern over show's penchant for killing off main characters, asking a question which the show's followers have been debating over since season five ended last June.

"Three weeks ago, I was in the company of the president of the United States," said Nutter. "He turned to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, 'You didn't kill Jon Snow did you?'"

Nutter told the president what Snow is "deader than dead," an answer many fans refuse to believe.

HBO has not released advance copies to anyone other than Obama. Usually HBO sends copies to certain members of the media, but the network is trying to keep the new season's storylines under wraps.

The first episode is set to air on April 24. Until then, President Obama is the only person outside the Game of Thrones set who know what will happen in Westeros this season.
