The trailer posted on Deadline featured Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult as co-workers Nia and Silas, respectively. The two live in a futuristic society called "The Collective," where love and other forms of emotion are considered crimes. Despite the prohibitions imposed upon them and the consequence, they will eventually have to face, Nia and Silas fall in love and are desperate to escape together in order to survive.

The film's trailer reflected visually appealing minimalism in its truest form, with Stewart and Hoult's passionate chemistry palpable through the cool hues of blue and white. The two lead actors share the same slicked back androgynous hairstyle and are clad in all-white jumpsuits.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new trailer was released ahead of the scheduled premiere of 'Equals' at the Tribeca Film Festival. It is written by Nathan Parker and stars Guy Pierce, Jackie Weaver, Toby Huss and David Selby.
