Teams in the National Football League have less than a day to cut as many as 20 players from their roster to reach the 53 player limit by the start of the season. Several teams have already begun cutting players from the roster.

The Minnesota Vikings began by reporting that they have parted ways with veteran defensive tackle Fred Evans.

Evans has been part of the Vikings since 2007. The decision was made because of rookie defensive tackle Shamar Stephen's good preseason performance. Linval Johnson is also expected to come back strong after being shot in the leg after a preseason game.

The Seattle Seahawks have brought their roster down to 73 players by releasing quarterback Terelle Pryor and fullback Kiero Small.

Pryor has been playing with the Seahawks for only four months. He had a good preseason, completing 21 of 39 passes for 281 yards. He also has a rushing game, contributing 97 yards and a touchdown.

He did throw two interceptions though, and while that isn't enough to warrant the release, his performance could not replace number two quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.

Pryor will not have be released into free agency, meaning that any team can still claim him.

Small was also released after rushing for 151 yards and catching 19 passes last season.

Finally, the Washington Redskins have reportedly cut running back Chris Thompson.

While Thompson was able to play the final game with the Redskins, he was nursing injuries majority of the preseason.

They also went on to cut sixth round rookie running backs Lache Seastrunk and Evan Royster.

Teams still have less than a day to cut their roster down.

Some of these cut players might find their way on to practice squads, while others may get picked up by other teams. Others may be drafted into the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL) while others will be hanging up their helmets and retiring.
