The list of the coaches that have been given the pink slips this season is significantly growing. The Western Conference Southwest Division team Memphis Grizzlies is the latest club in the league to severe tied with their head tactician.

The Grizzlies have fired head coach Dave Joerger after a spell of three seasons in which he guided the team to three-straight playoff appearances, the Robert Pera-owned basketball organization announced on Saturday morning.

"After careful consideration, I concluded that a change was needed to foster the strong culture required to achieve sustainable, long-term success for this organization, the city and our fans," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said in a statement.

Memphis finished the regular season with 42 wins and 40 losses to enter the conference playoffs as the seventh-seeded team, despite being battered by injuries and forced to an NBA-record of 28 players this season. They faced the league's top defensive team San Antonio Spurs and lost the series after being swept in the opening round.

"This season has been hard, it's been really hard," Joerger said following their loss to the Spurs. "They could've quit, could've not made the playoffs and every day they came out and fought like crazy."

Joerger, 42, became part of the Grizzlies in the 2007-08 season as an assistant coach. He replaced head coach Lionel Hollins after the Grizzlies' failed in their Western Conference finals campaign in 2013. The five-time minor-league champion coach was named Western Conference Coach of the Month for January in his first year as Memphis head bench tactician.

In his three seasons with the Grizzlies, the Staples, Minnesota native has compiled a 147-99 overall win-loss record with 9-13 in the postseason.

Memphis becomes the fourth NBA team currently without a coach, joining the Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers. Memphis is immediately beginning its search for Joerger's replacement.
