Jeremy Shu, a worker in the information technology and internet industry, and his team based in Taiwan, are currently developing the Mozbii,  a unique stylus that allows its user to scan colors in the real world, analyze it and copy the color to be used on a smartphone or tablet. The device is currently on the fund-raising site Kickstarter until Sept. 27 and, as of the moment, has already collected $39,192, surpassing its goal of $30,000 to finance the project.

Although there are already various color-picking styli available in the market, such as the Wacom Realism Stylus and Scribble, the Mozbii has a number of features that make it acceptable for children aged two and up. The shape of the stylus mimics that of a lollipop but has a flexible neck where the rod would meet the circular head, which is equipped with a red-green-blue color sensor on one side and a minute color-scanning button next to it.

To be able to use the stylus, the user needs only to press the head against an object which has the color desired and have enough pressure to activate the button beside the sensor, which could mean even toddlers, who do not have fully-developed motor controls, can use the Mozbii.

On the opposite side of the head, there is a light-emitting diode that is illuminated when the device successfully scans a color that was chosen. The color is then saved on the Mozbii app for compatible smart devices where the user could use hue to fill in coloring pages or doodle drawings. The stylus also has a magnetic charging head, making it easy for the little tykes to use.

Shu and his colleagues have already finalized a prototype that would be sent next month to the first 100 backers on its Kickstarter page.
