Joan Rivers Taken Out of Intensive Care, "Being Kept Comfortable" in Private Room, Says Daughter Melissa Rivers

Joan Rivers has been transferred from Mount Sinai Hospital's intensive care unit to one of its private rooms and is "being kept comfortable", her daughter Melissa Rivers said in a statement last Tuesday.

The comedian's only daughter took the time to give thanks to everyone who offered their support and prayers since her 81-year-old mother was rushed to the New York hospital last Thursday morning due to cardiac and respiratory following an outpatient throat procedure.

A source told RadarOnline that the TV personality was taken out of the ICU because there have been no signs of progress.

"The decision to move her from the specialized medical unit at the hospital came after it was determined by doctors that nothing more could be done for Joan," the insider claimed. "Joan does remain on life support and is being kept alive by the machines."

Rivers' medical care reportedly involves the provision of Total Parenteral Nutrition, or TPN's, as well as ample fluids for proper hydration.

With regards to Melissa staying by her mother's side at all times since she was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital last week, the source drew attention to the challenge that has been laid down on the comedienne's daughter.

"Melissa is Joan's power of attorney, and she could be facing a very tough decision very soon: whether or not to take her mother off of life support," the insider explained. "Everyone is hoping for a miracle, but it isn't looking likely."

Last Tuesday, the younger Rivers stated that her mother was still depending on a life support machine while the E! network announced that their show "Fashion Police", which Rivers co-hosts, will be put on hold for a number of weeks.

"We will not be producing a 'Fashion Police' this week or next as we await Joan and Melissa's return in front and behind the camera," a spokesperson for E! commented on Tuesday.
