A shooting during rapper T.I.'s concert at New York's Irving Place on Wednesday night killed one and wounded three others, according to police.

"A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting took place at the third floor green room area," Chief of Manhattan South Detectives William Aubry said at a press conference. "At the time of the shooting, two performers were performing onstage: Maino and Uncle Murda."

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the gunfight. T.I. was in the building at the time of the shooting but had not come out onstage at the time of the incident, which took place at approximately 10:15 p.m.

Juliet Vahos, 20, was attending the concert when she heard "a loud rumbling noise" coming from the VIP area.

"We were facing the stage on the ground floor, about three rows back from the gate of the stage," Vahos told Rolling Stone. "It sounded like there was a loud rumbling noise in the VIP section on the right balcony. It sounded like two shots. Some people were saying that it was 'just a fight.' About 30 seconds later, we definitely heard multiple gunshots. Everyone was running like you've never seen them run before."

The victims of the shooting included a 34-year-old man, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, and another 33-year-old man, who was shot in the abdomen. Out of the two males, one was declared dead while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

Two other victims, a 26-year-old woman and a rapper by the name of Troy Ave, were both shot in the leg and are receiving treatment for the same.

According to eyewitnesses, once shots were fired, the crowd panicked and people started pushing each other and began using one another as shields in order to avoid getting shot.

"People were falling down the stairs," concert attendee Heather Hallock, 20, tells Rolling Stone. "There was a large woman who fell at the bottom of the stairs and people were running over her. We ran outside and across the street and waited there for the rest of our group. Ambulances started pulling up. They were pulling out 3, 4, 5 gurneys."

No arrests have been made yet but Aubry revealed that police have found ballistic evidence at the scene of the crime.
