The trailer of "Finding Dory" has sparked an online debate that it may be the first Disney Pixar movie to feature a lesbian couple. A minute into the trailer for the follow-up hit "Finding Nemo," a brief scene seems to show a lesbian couple with a baby in a stroller.

Disney and Pixar are well-known for their heart-tugging storylines that can reduce everyone into a puddle of tears - even the grown-ups. A new trailer for "Finding Dory" proves this point when it was shown on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last week. Aside from breaking the hearts of many, the Disney movie is also breaking a major barrier as it features the first ever lesbian couple in a Disney animated film.

The controversial appearance of the lesbian couple has sparked a debate online. Including LGBT characters in film and TV has been brought up in recent weeks. In fact, many fans are urging the showrunners of "Frozen" to find Elsa a girlfriend.

Supporting LGBT

The rumors that Disney films are set to include heterosexual characters comes after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hinted about a romantic connection between Poe Dameron and Finn. After the movie was released, a strong connection was apparent between the two characters, backed by J.J. Abrams' intentions on including LGBT characters in the "Star Wars" universe.

Many are now excited to spot a possible lesbian couple in "Finding Dory."
