New York Yankees' Ichiro Suzuki revealed that he learned Spanish in order to talk trash to the Latin American players.

Japanese native Suzuki is a talented individual. With an unorthodox batting style, incredible hand-eye coordination, and an unmatchable work ethic, Suzuki is touted as a great baseball player.

He adds one more talent to his list by learning the Spanish language.

While he admits that he initially learned it to interact with the players, he says that more importantly, he just wanted to mentally mess with the players.

"No corro casi," Suzuki once said to Ramon Santiago at first base. Suzuki was saying that he didn't have his legs today and that his running was a bit off. The phrase brought a smile to Santiago's face, a native of the Dominican Republic.

However, two pitches later, Suzuki was stealing bases and landed on third with those same heavy legs.

Another first baseman in Carlos Pena experience Suzuki's Spanish trash talking. Suzuki reached first base with an infield hit/

Just as he got there, he told Pena, "Que coño tu mira?" which translates to, "what the hell are you looking at?"

Pena admits that he pursed his lips tight in order to keep the laughter from spilling out.

Apart from the mind games and humorous aspect of the trash talking, Suzuki says that he feels he has a special bond with the Latin players.

He sees them and himself as foreigners in a different country, all playing baseball.

This bond came into fruition during the 2004 all-star game in Houston. The seven Venezuelan players participating lined up to take picture. However, there ended up being eight players as they motioned for Suzuki to join them.

He also adds that since they don't have any curse words in Japanese, he likes being able to say whatever he wants with the Western languages.
