"How to Get Away With Murder" season 3 cast member Karla Souza recently opened up about her suicidal past.

Just recently, the actress gave a speech at a recent Ted Talk session in her home Guanajuato, Mexico.

"People normally think that fame and success are something wonderful and easy to navigate. These tests dealing with constant rejection and auditions for me generate fruits such as forgiveness, perseverance, discipline, character, hope. They mold my craft," she said.

During her talk, Souza recounted a time in her life when she struggled so much and came to a point when she just wanted to end her life altogether, according to the Latin Times.

According to her, she woke up one morning without a voice and this unknown condition of hers lasted for about three months.

"One day, without knowing why, I lost my voice for three months. I couldn't talk. For three months, I couldn't say one sentence. Not one specialist was able to tell me what was wrong. What I can tell you is that I had a moment in which I was so frustrated and desperate, that it came to the point of me wanting to take my own life," she said.

Meanwhile, Souza was able to surpass this rough patch in her life, and she even landed a permanent role in "How to Get Away With Murder."

Now on its third season, Souza's Laurel has made an impact on thousands of audiences across the globe.

When the hit ABC series returns in the fall, Laurel is expected to struggle through Frank's (Charlie Weber) disappearance.

She will also make a decision with regards to staying with her boyfriend Frank or acting on her feelings for Wes (Alfred Enoch).

"How to Get Away With Murder" season 3 will premiere on ABC sometime this September.
