Snapchat on Tuesday unveiled the new look for its Discover feature which was redesigned to allow users subscribe to their favorite publishers.

The new design also gives publishers the ability to include an image and a headline in order to promote content, and is part of Snapchat's a strategy to boost viewership.

Instead of just logos, the new Discover page now features a Pinterest-like grid view of the publishers with a headline of their most recent content. By tapping and holding each channel, users cana now subscribe to them if they want to follow their posts more closely. There's also the option to unsubscribe if the user feels the need.

This new Snapchat update gives publishers a lucrative advantage as compared to the previous version, which saw an underwhelming response in terms of viewership of content published by channels.

Now that Discover looks more enticing, it is highly-possible that users may be more willing to browse through the platform which offers a mix of images, video clips, articles and advertisements.

Speaking of ads, Snapchat also splits revenues obtained from them with their publishing partners. The latest update makes for a unique strategy to earn additional revenue by making efforts to boost viewership and possibly acquire more publishers to invest on the multi-media platform in the process.

Snapchat Inc. which is currently in partnership with Buzzfeed and People magazine, recently raised $1.8 billion.

A spokesperson for the messaging app said that the total amount includes $650 million obtained last year and the other $1.2 billion raised this year. It is being projected that Snapchat's value is likely to rise even further in the coming months.
