‘The Voice’ Alum Christina Grimmie Dies at 22; NBC Host, Judges Pay Tribute to Singer

"The Voice" season 6 contestant Christina Grimmie has died at the age of 22.

According to TIME, Grimmie just finished performing in front of a large crowd at her concert in Florida when she went out to sign autographs for her fans.

A few minutes later, an unknown man went up to the singer and shot her. Grimmie's brother Mark immediately tackled the man before he could hurt anyone else.

Due to the impact, the man, who had two types of weapons with him, accidentally shot himself and died.

Following Grimmie's sad passing, her coaches on "The Voice" and reality TV show host Carson Daily posted their sendoff messages via their respective Twitter and Instagram accounts.

"I'm stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl... Keeping @TheRealGrimmie family in my heart and mind," "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton tweeted.


"I'm sad, shocked and confused. We love you so much Grimmie. We are all praying hard that you can pull through this... This just isn't fair," Grimmie's coach Adam Levine posted on Instagram.

"The Voice" host Carson Daly wrote, "So sad about @TheRealGrimmie. I'm still in shock. She was special. Had IT. Talented. Kind. Funny. Loving. Courageous. We hurt w her family."


Grimmie's fellow contestant on "The Voice" season 6 Kristen Merlin tweeted, "My thoughts and prayers are with @TheRealGrimmie and her family. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. #RIPChristina."

Other singers, authors and celebrities who shared loving messages for Grimmie include Demi Lovato, John Green, Nick Jonas, Lucy Hale, Rachel Platten and more.
