The dialogue was co-chaired by EU Foreign Policy Minister Federica Mogherini and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

According to State Councilor Yang, China sees the EU as a strategic partner not only because of social development and economic demands but also because of the need to promote world peace and stability as well as economic recovery.

Yang said that the China-EU dialogue is vital and will be beneficial as both sides have agreed to expand cooperation in various areas including trade and investment, technology as well as infrastructure.

Mogherini agreed, acknowledging that China is an important partner. He praised the country for its positive role in addressing regional and global challenges.

Yang met with a lot of EU Dignitaries during the dialogue, including European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. During his meetings, Yang reiterated China's commitment to actively pursue cooperation on matters of mutual interest and work together to promote global peace and security.

During the China-EU dialogue, a consensus was reached to accelerate negotiations on different bilateral agreements on investment. Both sides also agreed to tourism as well as enhance cooperation on political security.

The European Union and China are preparing for the 18th China-EU Summit, which will be held in Beijing in July. The summit is seen as a way to further improve relations and cooperation.
