The New York Times recently wrote an article entitled, "The Rise and Fall of the Biggest Pot Dealer in New York History." The article has a photo consisting of marijuana dealer Jimmy Cournoyer, Hollywood Star Leonardo Dicaprio, and ex-welterweight champion of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Georges "Rush" St-Pierre (GSP).

Known as the "King of Pot," Cournoyer led an extravagant lifestyle with Hollywood and sports celebrities within his circle of friends.

Apart from selling marijuana though, Cournoyer has been linked to a 1998 conspiracy wherein he helped traffic at least 100,000 kilos of cannabis, 83 kilos of cocaine, and money laundering.

Allegedly, he also has ties to then mafia boss Vito Rizzuto and several gangs as well.

In January of this year, GSP wrote an open letter speaking about Cournoyer outside of his criminal element. He has been cited by GSP as a really good friend who he went to exotic places and bars with.

"Jimmy became like a brother to me," GSP said in the letter.

The New York Times wrote an article, painting a clearer picture of what Cournoyer's empire and business was like; saying that he had over US $1 billion laundered through a drug cartel, and he had US $2 million handy to pay for the murder of anyone who crossed him.

The article does not shed the same amount of respect and friendly attitude that GSP spoke of.

Now, GSP's letter and unflinching support for Cournoyer has included him in a photograph of the article.

Since GSP's current retirement from Mixed Martial Arts, he has been exercising his acting chops.

While he has also expressed his desire to return to the octagon for more fights, his involvement with Cournoyer may hurt the chances of both his return to the UFC, and his potential acting career.
