(Photo : gettyimages.com) China is the only Asian country in the top ten list of the best women’s basketball teams in the world, according to FIBA.

The Chinese women's national basketball squad will be trying to win every game in the group phase of the upcoming Rio Olympics, showing little concern for the FIBA world rankings, the team's head coach Tom Maher said on Wednesday.

"It's a tough group, but it's the Olympic Games. Our goal is to finish the top eight. We can beat teams if we keep improving, and it will be interesting. Maher said. "If you look at the rankings, we've got more chances to beat Senegal, then Serbia, then Canada, then Spain and USA. We try to win every game."

China is placed in Group B that includes Serbia, Canada, Senegal, United States and Spain. The incumbent world No. 9 Canadians will be the first assignment of the Chinese national team on August 6.

The Chinese team will fly to Canada on July 7 and play three tune-up games against the Canadian national team. After spending one and a half week in Beijing, the Olympic qualifying team will go to the United States for two more exhibition matches.

They are scheduled to arrive in Rio on August 2 where they will play the Brazilian team for their last warmup game before the Olympics kicks off on August 5.

China is currently ranked No. 8 in the FIBA World Rankings.  The Chinese national team has appeared in eight different Olympics Games with their best performance of winning the silver medal in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain and with a bronze medal finish in 1984 in Los Angeles in the United States.

China is the only Asian country that is on the list of top ten women's basketball powerhouse in the world.
