Huawei Apologizes for Their Misleading Photo Taken From Canon's DSLR Camera, Not From Huawei P9's Rear Camera

(Photo : YouTube Screenshot) Huawei has apologized for this misleading photo used to advertise the Huawei P9 that was taken with Canon's DSLR camera.

Chinese mobile manufacturer Huawei has apologized for a misleading photo taken with Canon's DSLR camera, and not with the Huawei P9's rear camera that has dual Leica lens. The photo was used to advertise the Huawei P9.

According to Gizmo China, last week Huawei uploaded a stunning photo on its official Google+ page with a title suggesting that the image was taken using the P9's dual cameras. The caption of the photo states that the dual Leica cameras of P9 can take photos in low light conditions.

However, the truth about the details of the photo was quickly spotted on Google+ metadata. Just like other photo-sharing services, Google+ preserves the Exchangeable image file format (EXIF) metadata of any photo posted. The metadata includes information about the camera used to take the image. In this case, the metadata showed that the photo was taken with the powerful Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera with a focal length of 135 mm, an exposure of 1/800, an exposure bias reaching -1 EV and lens of EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, which is priced at $1900 nowadays. This high-end camera is currently priced at $2600 on Amazon, making it a whopping $4500 camera setup, Softpedia reported.

Huawei has taken down the photo from its official Google+ account. The company said in a statement that the photo was taken professionally while filming an advertisement for the P9 smartphone. The statement also said that the image's caption should have been clearer and apologized for the misleading photo.
