The Canadian women's national basketball team demonstrated their dominance over the national team of China following their 71-59 win on Monday to sweep the three-game Edmonton Grads International Classic series at the Saville Community Sports Centre on Monday.

Phoenix Mercury point guard Nirra Fields poured in a game-high 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists while veteran forwards Tamara Tatham, and Miranda Ayim added 10 points apiece. WNBL player Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe chipped in nine points and pulled down eight boards for the Canadians, who routed China 82-63 in Game 1 on Saturday, then followed that up with a dominant 74-62 win on Sunday.

"Nirra's athletic ability and her speed and her ability to knock down open shots and create stuff for others is just tremendous," Team Canada Head Coach Lisa Thomaidis said after the match. "She's come a long way in the last few years and we're really happy with her progress."

According to SportsNet, China's top scorers were Xiao-jia and Zhi-fang Zhao Chen with 10 points each. The invitational game in Canada was part of the national squad's preparation for the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this August.

Canada hosted the Asian basketball powerhouse for three exhibition games. Canada will be facing China in their opening game at the Rio Olympics.  The two teams belong in Group B that includes Senegal, Serbia, Spain and United States.

During the three-game series, the reigning FIBA Americas champions looked strong. It appears that they saved their best performance for the final game. Team Canada dominated the game from start to finish, The Province reported.

"It's really hard to play a team three games in a row in three straight days, and I just thought we wore them down. By the second half they were fatigued. They hit some shots, but we were real physical with them," Thomaidis said.
