LeEco has confirmed that it is in talks with Netflix for possible content cooperation deal.

Inside sources have revealed that the deal between the two companies is likely to see Netflix-owned shows playing on Le Eco’s video streaming platform in the United States, Variety reported. LeEco plans to make an announcement at the end of September at an event in the U.S., where the company is also expected to reveal its North America strategy. The deal comes after LeEco acquired U.S. smart TV maker VIZIO for $2 billion.

“We are planning a very significant cooperation with Netflix, and details will be announced in the third quarter,” Liu Hong, co-founder and vice chairman of LeEco, said in Beijing.

Liu said that it might be difficult to build content for the U.S. audience because online streaming is a monopolized market with the copyright of TV shows and movies of production companies. However, the possible cooperation with Netflix will help strengthen its smart TV content.

A similar deal could happen in India as LeEco partnered with two streaming service providers Eros Now and YuppTV for content. Russia is also another target market in LeEco’s globalization ambitions, according to South China Morning Post. China is now a booming market for video streaming, with the leading local companies counting close to half a billion users.

Netflix is known for popular TV series such as House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Bloodline and Sense8. Award-winning films such as Spotlight and Jurassic Park can also be streamed via Netflix.
