Korean actress Yoo In Na has apparently been dropped from a Chinese soap series in the wake of South Korea's Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) deployment.

Yoo was reportedly fired from the series even though production had nearly wrapped up in what appears to be China's response to South Korea's decision to deploy an anti-missile defense system on the Korean peninsula, according to AllKPop.

The actress had been cast as the female lead in "Shuttle Love Millenium 2," a 28-episode drama produced by Hunan TV, but the network unexpectedly decided to replace the "Love Fiction" star without citing a specific reason, industry sources reveal.

Chinese news outlet Sina reported that Taiwanese actress Puff Kuo had been signed on to play Yoo's character in the upcoming series, which is a Chinese remake of Korean period drama series "Queen In Hyun's Man."

"Nothing is officially confirmed regarding Yoo In Na's Chinese drama. However, it is true that things are not going so well. As of now, all we can say that we are still in discussion with the production company," the actress' label YG entertainment said in a statement.

This recent development comes amid ongoing tensions between Seoul and Beijing following the THAAD deployment, which China has condemned as a threat to its national security and regional stability, according to Yonhap News.

China has since banned Korean talent from Chinese media and has also started clamping down on Korea's entertainment industry in the mainland. China is a major market for South Korean content such as K-Pop and dramas.
