China and Russia on Friday voiced strong opposition to the deployment of US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile batteries in South Korea, reiterating concerns that the US defense system's capabilities could pose a threat to the stability of the region.

China has expressed its disagreement over the possible deployment of advanced U.S. missile defence system in Korea. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yu made China's opposition clear during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry last week.
