Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has launched a new streaming device called the Mi Box.

A quick look at the Mi Box and one will instantly notice its simplicity. The box is just about as thick as a wallet and sports a matte black color. Xiaomi went full minimalist with the remote as well as it comes with just a handful of buttons.

On the back part of the Mi Box is where the audio, HDMI, USB, and power ports are located. The Mi Box might not be the epitome of style and design, but what it lacks in those aspects it sufficiently makes up for in terms of technical features.

The Mi Box can stream 4K videos at an impressive 60 frames per second. This puts Xiaomi's flagship streaming device on par with products from Amazon and Roku. Even Apple TV does not support such feature.

According to Mashable, the Xiaomi Mi Box runs on Android TV. This means that the box has an easy to use interface and the highly-praised universal search support which allows users to easily search and filter titles across multiple services. The Mi Box even supports Google Cast, a feature that allows it to function much like a Chromecast.

While the above-mentioned features are relatively common nowadays, it is the price of the Mi Box that gives it an edge over the competition. Retailing for just $69, the Mi Box is significantly cheaper compared to other streaming devices that are currently out in the market.
