Brenda Leyland, an English woman, was found dead in her room at Burton Overy in central England on Saturday after being interviewed by Sky News regarding her 3,000 tweets directed towards Gerry and Kate McCann, who have been looking for their missing child since 2007.

Leyland, 63, invited the camera crew in her home and explained why she has been accusing the McCanns of neglect of their child, Madeleine McCann, while at a Portuguese holiday resort prior to her disappearance on May 2007.

She had been tweeting statements such as: "#mccann To Kate and Gerry, you will be hated by millions for the rest of your miserable, evil, conniving lives, have a nice day!"

Leyland noted during the interview that she believed she was entitled to campaign against the McCanns as she was not alone on this stand. She accused the McCanns of using the money raised to find Madeleine for other things instead of funding the search for the child.

Despite her request to remain anonymous during the interview, newspaper reports identified her after the said confrontation.

The British police are yet to release information about the ongoing investigation. However, some people believe that the media is to blame for the death of Leyland.

A Facebook page has been set up shortly after her death, which campaigned for the dismissal of Skye correspondent Martin Brunt, who interviewed the Leyland.

Brunt, on the other hand, has released a statement regarding the criticisms directed towards him via social media. He claimed to be upset over the death of Leyland. Sky News also released a statement expressing their sadness over the news of her demise, but claimed that it would be inappropriate to comment and speculate as of the moment.

In addition, the lawyers of Sky News watched the interview before it was broadcasted and noted the validity of the controversial intrusion of Leyland's privacy. Sky News is also confident that regulatory authorities will clear the network regarding the 60 complaints filed against them after the death of the 63-year-old.

As for the McCanns, they have already filed a case against their online abuser. The inquiry regarding the abusive tweets was still in its initial stages as no one had been interviewed regarding the matter yet.

Prior to the Leyland's tweets against the McCanns, the couple have been named as suspects by the Portuguese police regarding their missing child. However, the case was later dropped due to lack of evidence.
