Next is showing some respect. Fallon cited Jay Leno saying that respect means "to make good" with Leno. Leno was actually in the same interview and he said that Fallon is a comic and not a comedy writer as he started from the bottom before being where he is now. Leno added that he and Fallon have this bond he sees as a father-and-son kind of thing.

Fallon's third rule is to shut up and listen. He noted that people in the entertainment business tend to act as if they know everything but they don't so Fallon pressed that respect is still connected to being able to listen to another person.

Moving on to the fourth, Fallon said that no one should hold grudges and segued to number five saying that one should never stop trying if you really want to reach your goal and succeed in your chosen field.

The number sic rule of Fallon is to "drink with the boss" as he talked about this rule came from Marci Klein, the producer of SNL, as he told Fallon to always go over to Lorne Michaels, the boss, and thank him after every show. Fallon followed the advice and after his third show, Lorne then invited him for a drink.

And lastly, keep the competition close.
