Kai Ko's film slated for release October 9 has canceled. Another one slated for release February next year might just be shelved as well.

Monster Hunt, directed by Chinese-American animator-director Raman Hui, who also co-directed Shrek The Third (2007) was canceled the last minute before it was scheduled to hit cinemas.

Meanwhile, Tiny Times 4, the latest installment of the film series might be shelved from the line up because of the incident involving Kai Ko.

The decision to cancel film's launched is not because of the actor's waning popularity but because of the state media watchdog's ruling regarding shows involving celebrities involved in immoral or criminal conduct.

Tiny Times 3 was heavily criticized because it highlighted the character as a selfish and materialistic guy, which is actually the real-life scenario among Chinese youngsters.

The State Administration of Press, Radio, Film and TV issued an order on Oct 9 which specified that actors who were found to be using or have used drugs or are involved in prostitution are banned from the big and small screens.

These "tainted talents," as state regulators labeled them, are barred them from appearing on TV, films, online dramas and commercials for fear of influencing the audience.

Kai Ko became a celebrity with the success of the film You Are the Apple of My Eye in 2011, which made him a household name not only in China but also throughout Asia. Kai Ko has three films awaiting release later this year and in early 2015.
