Black Friday Slowly Becoming 'Black November' With Earlier Deals

Black Friday

(Photo : businessinsider) Black Friday is no longer the day to find the best holiday shopping prices and is turning into "Black November."

It's just two weeks away from Black Friday, the biggest shopping event in the U.S. But with deals becoming available online and released earlier every year, it seems Black Friday is turning into "Black November."

Black Friday used to be a strictly one-day event where eager consumers could be seen camping over Thanksgiving night anticipating retailers opening their doors early Friday morning. But each year major retailers competing with each other roll out early Black Friday deals weeks before the event.

"Black Friday is more of an idea than a single-day event anymore," says Calvin Silva, lead retail analyst at Nasdaq Advisory Services.

In fact, consumers won't even be able to find the best deals on Black Friday anymore, as a majority of retailers, including Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy, will open their doors a day earlier on Thanksgiving with "doorbuster" deals and the best discounted products on Thursday.

According to a report by USA Today, online discounted prices now hit their lowest point on Thanksgiving, averaging a 24 percent discount on all products. Even the week before Thanksgiving has an average of 20 percent discounted products.

An analysis from Savings.com shows the most Black Friday deals are available from retailers a week before Thanksgiving, although the best prices depend on what consumers are looking for. The best day to buy deals on toys is reportedly the day before Thanksgiving, and the beginning of November is the best time for consumers looking for electronics.

Even online retailer Amazon began their Black Friday event starting Nov. 1, which will be continuing throughout the month offering two different "Deals of the Day" for consumers each day.

"Not everybody has the desire to go out on Black Friday because it's a zoo," a Gap customer says. "I feel like the retailers are making it easier to get the same kind of deals but not have to endure that."
