When the discussions reached the topic about Renee Zellweger's new look, Witherspoon did not spare any remarks.

It's horrible. It's cruel and rude and disrespectful, and I can go on and on and on. It bothers me immensely," she said during the roundtable discussion.

"I know this is so Pollyanna of me, but why -- and it's particularly women -- why do they have to tear women down? And why do we have to tear other women down to build another woman up?" she said.

She said the harsh statements against Zellweger drove her crazy. She went on to say that society tends to be judgment, prejudicing women who wear make up as "great" while those who don't also "don't look good"

"...it's all just a judgment and assault that I don't -- look, men are prey to it as well. I just don't think it's with the same sort of ferocity," she continued.

Witherspoon recently served as the producer of the global box office hit, Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, which centers on the story about a man whose wife has gone missing and the suspicions pointing to him soon after. The film grossed over US$300 million.

She also stars in Wild, the biographical drama based on Chery; Strayed's memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, slated for release Dec. 5. Her acting already earned the raves of critics, calling her performance the best since her Oscar-winning stint in Walk the Line in 2005.
