After the fight broke out at 2:25 on a Saturday morning, the police were called to Manziel's luxury apartment in The Metropolitan.

According to a police report, the fan - Chris Gognos - told the police that he was assaulted by "Johnny Football and his entourage."

Gognos, 33, recounted that he and his girlfriend were waiting for an elevator when they spotted Manziel. They went over and he said to the rookie quarterback that he is a big Browns fan and that he wanted to give Manziel a hug.

When Gognos took a step forward to complete the hug, he was punched by a man listed on the report as Dana Kirk. He was then struck several times in the face by a group of unidentified men.

Kirk on the other hand said Gognos was trying to assault Manziel and he was only defending the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner.

Despite the injuries of Gognos, no arrests were made. However, police reports did indicate that there were cameras located near the elevators that may have captured video of the dispute.

Browns general manager Ray Farmer released a statement saying their team is gathering more information on the matter.

The Cleveland Browns coach, Mike Pettine, said he already spoke with Manziel about the incident and that the quarterback did not break any team rules. Pettine refused to divulge any more details of his meeting with Manziel.
