Rumors have been circulating that Jim Harbaugh, Head Coach of the National Football League's (NFL) San Francisco 49ers, is being sought to lead other teams in the league including the Oakland Raiders.

The Raider's search for their new head coach is only weeks away, and speculations surrounding the possible candidates have been circulating. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers are widely expected to trade Harbaugh after this season, with the Raiders as the leading contenders to make a deal.

Harbaugh's first foray into the NFL was as a quarterback coach with the Raiders in 2002. Taking the position in Oakland would allow for less hassles, as his family would not need to move cross-country.

Since Harbaugh's time with the Raiders though, suffice it to say, things have not been going their way. They have been among the NFL's worst teams for a number of years.

However, the Raiders now have a significant amount of hope in potential franchise quarterback Derek Carr. As speculations go, he is being shaped up to be a high draft pick this spring.

The Raiders will also be having a significant amount of salary cap space to add players in free agency.

Apart from the players though, several factors come in to play regarding the deal with Harbaugh. Chief among them is the kind of personnel power Harbaugh would hold and need, and whether or not general manager Reggie McKenzie would return for another year.

One thing is certain, and it is that Harbaguh is exactly the kind of star coach that principal owner and managing general partner, Mark Davis, wants for his team.

The deal has not been formalized or even talked over though. Schefter says that a lot can happen in a month.

He names the New York Jets as another potential team that could come in and sweep Harbaugh off his feet.
