Grammy Nominees Announced

Announcing the Grammy nominees this year has become a whole day event, a break from the usual tradition of staging a prime-time concert in rolling out the top contenders for the music industry's highest honors.

British singer Sam Smith is leading the pack so far, with five nominations.

The 22-year-old crooner got Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year and Best New Artist nominations, not to mention that his single "His Stay With Me" has gone smashing around the world.

The announcement started at CBS This Morning, with Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran announcing the nominees in the four categories for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.

Asked about how he felt after announcing the nominees, Williams was particularly happy for Miley Cyrus.

"Very happy for Miley,"

"Super happy for Beyoncé. A lot of great names. ... Ed. That's big," he continued.

"It's just super early and we're just trying not to geek out in front of everybody on national TV," Williams said, smiling rather slyly.

"We're very excited!"
