Davis has reportedly escaped a possible death by firing squad in China. According to her parents, Larry and Jenny Davis, in a statement released by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, they were feeling really happy to have their daughter home and that they always knew Kalynda is innocent of the said allegations.

The parents of 22-year-old Kalynda reportedly engaged solicitors from Sydney and China in order to administer the release of their daughter from the Chinese officials. Reports suggest that Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop was the one who supported Kalynda from the Chinese officials for her negotiated release.

According to reports, Kalynda only had a hand-luggage, which supports her statement that she did not smuggle any drug.

Kalynda has been missing since November 5 this year and has been reported to the Australian police. After a few days, news surfaced that Kalynda was in China with a 25-year-old man named Peter Gardiner who was from Richmond, Virginia.

Kalynda and Peter reportedly met via the dating app called "Tinder". The two were stopped from leaving Guangzhou and were accused of having this drug called "ice" on their luggage. It is not yet clear how Kalynda and Peter got to China but Peter is still in the custody of Chinese officials. However, lawyers are doing everything in order to secure his release from being held in captive.

There have been no statements released yet from the family of Gardiner but the Kalynda Davis' family said that they will continue to pray for his safety.
