On December 17, Xiaomi opened a registration window for customers interested in purchasing the Redmi 1S for Rs. 5,999 at a flash sale on Flipkart.

Flipkart is an e-commerce website in India offering online shopping for gadgets, books, clothing and other products at good prices. Flash sales allow customers to register at a given time before the product becomes available. This kind of sales allows products to sell out in seconds.

The Redmi S1 has 4.7 inch 720 x 1280-pixel display and features an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. It bears a simple phone design, an 8 GB internal storage with expandable storage and 1 GB of RAM.

S1 comes with a Qualcomm processor. This feature makes it different from the 3G variant of Redmi Note, which caused Ericsson to file a lawsuit against Xiaomi.

But customers of Redmi Note will soon have something to watch for on Flipkart. Xiaomi is releasing a Redmi Note 4G. This phone with a 5.5 inch display screen; comes with an Octa core and 2 GB of RAM. It also comes with a Qualcomm processor, making it available for sales in India soon.

Founded in 2010, China's rising smartphone giant Xiaomi recently raised US$1 billion from its latest funding. This move made it one of the most valuable technology start-ups to watch for in the next few years.
