Residents of the Hayes Valley community in San Francisco, California, are still rattled by the exchange of gunfire on Friday night in their neighborhood that resulted in four dead men inside a stolen vehicle.

The gun battle involve at least four guns, said Police Chief Greg Suhr, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Two of these weapons were found inside the stolen 2005 Honda that was double parked near the corner of Laguna and Page Streets with the victims' corpses that had multiple gunshots.

It started at about 10 p.m. in block 200 of Page Street wherein 15 shots were fired, according to the scanner traffic, which also captured images of an expensive car speeding away from the shooting scene moving toward the direction of the freeway.

The police is still verifying the make and model of the speeding vehicle and checking if it is related to the incident. They suspect a gang war.

To assure residents - who have placed a sign that reads "4 People. Rest in Peace" to indicate their nervousness over the situation - that they are ready to respond to threats to safety in their village, the San Francisco Police Department deployed more cops in the area.

Hayes Valley used to be a seedy neighborhood, but over the years it has upgraded as expensive dining establishments, art galleries and shops opened in the area.

The SFPD also said investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made.
