Elrey "Bud" Runion and his wife June Runion were found dead with gunshot wounds in the head on Monday after going out to buy a replica of the 1966 Ford Mustang convertible which they saw on Craigslist.

The potential seller and suspect, Ronnie Adrian "Jay" Towns, 28, has already been charged last Tuesday with malice murder and armed robbery. He reportedly killed Elrey, 69, and June, 66, in a small farming town located in southern Georgia where the car sale should have transpired.

The Atlanta couple was last seen on Thursday headed to Telfair County in southern Georgia to buy the car. According to Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson, the last telephone call made by the couple was to a disposable cellphone owned by Towns.

The judge handling the case has denied any bond for Towns. It is not yet sure if the couple carried money with them and the judge declined to disclose any other information about the case.

However, officials said on Monday that the investigators did not find any evidence that Towns owned the classic car that the Runions sought to buy.

According to reports, Towns' motive for killing the couple is not yet clear. Town has been supporting his family financially by doing construction jobs for a homebuilder in their town. His family helped him over to the authorities on Monday.

The Runions were known for their charitable works and acts. They built a food pantry at the basement of their house and started the "Bud's Bicycles" project for children. In a makeshift memorial, there was a child's bicycle in the front yard of the couple and flowers were also offered.
