Japan Vows Not To Forgive ISIS

Japan, being a pacifist country, has not always directly involved itself in battling with terrorists but Prime Minister Shinzo Abe recently released a statement vowing to never forgive the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants for beheading freelance journalist Kenji Goto.

The release of the new ISIS video purpotedly showing Goto's grisly death shocked Japan and prompted it to heighten its security. It also served to strengthen the nation's resolve to fight terrorism despite its previous pacifist stance.

"I feel indignation over this immoral and heinous act of terrorism. When I think of the grief of his family, I am left speechless," Abe told reporters after an emergency Cabinet meeting. "We are filled with deep regret."

Abe said they will continue to provide humanitarian aid for the countries that are helping the United States-led coalition in its effort to abolish the ISIS militants. The White House has also released a statement praising Goto's courageous efforts to show the life of the Syrian people amid the terrorism in the country.

Goto's mother, Junko Ishido, has also released a statement describing how her son's tragic death broke her heart. Goto has travelled to Syria in October last year in an attempt to save the other Japanese hostage, 42-year-old Haruna Yukawa, who was held in captivity last August and was reportedly killed days before Goto was beheaded.

The White House has not yet confirmed the legitimacy of the video as well as the death of Goto but Japan noted that it is highly authentic. The United Nations Security Council has also released a statement demanding the release of all the other ISIS hostages without any condition.

Meanwhile, Japan said that there is a need to hold the killers of Goto responsible and that the ISIS should be defeated.
