Even when Alex Rodriguez has formally apologized to the New York Yankees organization, and is also slated to resume playing, an explanation for his drug use has still not been provided.

Rodriguez is coming back after a one-year absence. His road back began in a meeting with the Yankees' top brass last February 10, where he apologized to the team officials for violating baseball's drug agreement and labor contract.

With the air cleared, the officials suggested holding a news conference before commencing spring training. They even offered the use of Yankee Stadium.

Rodriguez went against the usual practice though and did not opt to hold a news conference ahead of his return.

Instead, he wrote a five paragraph handwritten apology last Tuesday that spoke about the mistakes that led to his suspension.

However, the details and specifics on why he resumed his performance enhancing drug (PED) use were not included.

Also missing was the reason why he returned to using them, as this was the second stretch of his celebrated career.

The last time Rodriguez was found using PEDs was in 2009 at the team's facility In Florida. He admitted to using banned PEDs while with Texas from 2001 to 2003.

Back then, Major League Baseball (MLB) had no drug agreement with penalties yet.

During the conference, Rodriguez stated that what he wanted is for the American people to judge him from that day forward.

While he doesn't want to face the press, he may eventually speak about his PED use if his cousin and former University of Miami pitching coach - Yuri Sucart and Lazar Callazo respectively - go to trial for crimes they committed involving the Biogenesis of America drug clinic.

Rodriguez could be called to take the stand and testify to his PED use and his involvement in the matter.

While fans and analysts contemplate the details of Rodriguez's PED use, he continues to play for the Yankees who owe him US $61 million over the final three seasons of his contract.
