Jakia already passed away on Sunday. Jahari, on the other hand, remains is still in critical condition and is on life support.

An autopsy released on Saturda found out that the Bishop sisters died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to the leak from their home furnace. The relative who found them immediately called 911 and noted that the children have been sick for days before they died.

The kids were living with their grandmother, Jean Bishop, was not at home that day as she was being treated at a hospital for a medical condition.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Simmons, four firefighters who responded to the emergency and were also treated immediately for probable carbon monoxide exposure.

The owners of the home, Joseph and Kathy Caldwell, who rented the house to the Bishops, said via their attorney James Ambrose that they did not know that the children lived there. The property has been standing there for 20 years now and that they received no notification from the tenants about any problem with the furnace.

Ambrose added that every time Bishop had reported a problem, the owners of the home attended to it immediately. They also said they were devastated over what happened to the children.

Police officials will still be investigating the case of the furnace leak but it was not yet determined if there will be any charges pressed against the Caldwells.
