A Circuit judge ruled that Florida's congressional redistricting map was unconstitutional after being found favorable to Republicans.

Circuit Court Judge Terry Lewis in Tallahassee declared two of Florida's 27 districts were drawn in favor of the party and has "made a mockery" of the redistricting process. Terry said the map needs to be revised.

"Republican political consultants or operatives did in fact conspire to manipulate and influence the redistricting process," Judge Lewis wrote in his 41-page ruling and specifically ordered that the two districts be redrawn following the 13-day trial that concluded in June.

The ruling may force the state to reexamine the redistricting process which is done once in every decade.

However, it was not clear if this would affect the upcoming November 2014 elections.

The districts under question are under 4-year Republican Congressman Daniel Webster and Rep. Corrine Brown, a Democrat, who served in Congress since 1993.

The League of Women Voters of Florida, Common Cause and others challenged the redistricting plan. They argued that the maps could only be a case of gerrymandering that allows representatives, partisan committees and officers to choose their voters instead of the other way around and officers.

Though Democrats have a slight edge in registered voters in Florida, the Republicans own 17 of the state's seats in the House of Representatives.

The ruling, dubbed as a 'historic ruling,' paved way to praises for Judge Lewis leading election expert Michael McDonald to tweet: "If all courts held legislators to as high a standard as Judge Lewis, we'd have fewer gerrymanders & a lot less other corruption."

Florida’s political primary is will take place on Aug. 26.
