Jeb Bush Calls For Transparency Amid Hillary Clinton's Private Email Use

Potential 2016 presidential race candidate Jeb Bush called for transparency as his possible rival Hillary Clinton drew flak for reportedly exclusively using personal email to conduct official business when she was still the White House Secretary of State.

According to reports, the usage of personal emails might be a violation of the Federal Records Act, which requires official messages to be preserved for record-related purposes. Bush took to Twitter his call for transparency in this issue, Fox News relayed.

"Transparency matters," Bush's Twitter post began. "Unclassified @HillaryClinton emails should be released. You can see mine, here. http://jebbushemails.com."

The House select committee discovered the existence of Clinton's personal email account during an investigation into the 2012 attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Libya. In a statement, the committee members pointed out that Clinton also did not have a government email address from 2009 to 2013, according to the report.

Clinton's aides also did not preserve every file she had sent because they only turned over to the State Department whatever file they wanted to be archived. In addition, the State Department does not know how many emails in total were really sent and received by Clinton during her term as the Secretary of State but they said only 55,000 pages of emails turned over to them.

Nick Merrill, Clinton's spokesman, answered the allegations in a statement, saying the former Secretary of State gave the needed information to be retained when she was asked last year about it. He explained that the State Department officials were allowed to use non-government emails as long as the needed records were archived.

Republican Representative Darrell Issa of California echoed the statements of the State Department and that of former Florida governor Jeb Bush, the report said.

"The use of a personal e-mail address to skirt public records laws, aside from failing to meet the security standards one would expect of the nation's top diplomat, enabled Clinton to shield her official communications from scrutiny by the media and the American public," said Issa.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked about this issue but he has yet to comment on whether Clinton did break the law. He also has not revealed what measures the White House is taking to address this issue.
